Article IV consultations are the IMF's periodic review of a member country's economy. The 2024 report brings together the press release, the staff report and the statement by the Executive Director for Gabon. The Executive Board concluded the consultation on 24 May 2024.

The report finds that the post-pandemic recovery held up well against shocks, despite a soft patch in 2023 caused by logistics disruptions, political uncertainty and high fuel prices for businesses. It expected growth to return towards its potential of around 3%.

Discussions focused on transparency in managing public resources, putting public finances on a sustainable footing and raising more inclusive growth. The IMF called for urgent action on fiscal imbalances to reduce liquidity risks and avoid unsustainable debt dynamics, and for closing governance gaps to support the business climate.
