Prepared by the firm Moore Insight for the EITI Gabon multi-stakeholder group, the report reconciles payments declared by oil and mining companies with revenues declared by the government for 2022.
Production and exports
Reconciliation puts 2022 output at 75,925,651 barrels, 4 percent more than in 2021, with Rabi Light the leading grade. The country shipped 67.48 million barrels of hydrocarbons, worth CFAF 4,234 billion, up 2 percent in volume and 66 percent in value. Manganese output rose from 10,229,090 tonnes in 2021 to 10,479,222 tonnes in 2022, while gold output declined slightly.
Revenues
Extractive sector revenues rose from CFAF 813 billion in 2021 to CFAF 1,570 billion in 2022, with hydrocarbons accounting for 93 percent. The report attributes this increase mainly to the rise in the official selling price of the Gabonese crude basket, from US$69.83 in 2021 to US$99.99 a barrel in 2022, and to the dollar's appreciation against the CFA franc. The Directorate General of Public Accounting and the Treasury, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and the Directorate General of Taxes between them account for about 92.8 percent of these receipts.
