According to the validation report published by the EITI International Secretariat, Gabon's assessment rests on three components: outcomes and impact, scored 91 out of 100 and rated high; stakeholder engagement, scored 75 out of 100 and rated moderate; and transparency, scored 54.5 out of 100 and rated fairly low. The overall score of 73.5 points is the average of these three components.
Gabon, which was delisted from the EITI in February 2013, was readmitted as an implementing country in October 2021. The report notably welcomes the publication of two EITI Reports in a short period, the disclosure of excerpts of oil, gas and mining contracts, and a report on oil costs. It also identifies areas for improvement, including full publication of contracts, beneficial ownership disclosure and government funding of EITI implementation.
