CEMAC Commission (Regional Origin Committee)
Overview
The CEMAC Commission (Central African Economic and Monetary Community) is the community's executive body, bringing together Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. It sits in Bangui. It matters to a Gabonese operator in two ways. First, customs rules applied in Gabon are largely community rules: the customs code revised in 2019, the common external tariff, and tax directives on VAT and excise duties. Second, a product made in Gabon only benefits from the generalised preferential tariff in other member states after approval: the file is examined by the Regional Origin Committee, following the procedure set by act No. 19/08-UEAC-010H-CM-18.
