Overview

The Ministry of Oil and Gas conducts state policy for oil and gas activities. The main legal framework is law No. 002/2019 of 16 July 2019 regulating the hydrocarbons sector, which governs activities from exploration to production and sets out the rights and obligations of contract holders. The ministry is the contact point for oil companies on applying this code; its website regularly reports meetings with the heads of local subsidiaries of oil groups.
