Uniform act on contracts for the carriage of goods by road

This uniform act governs contracts for the carriage of goods by road where the places of pick-up and delivery are in an OHADA member state, or in two different states of which at least one is a member. It came into force on 1 January 2004. It excludes in particular dangerous goods, funeral transport, household removals and international postal consignments. It covers the formation of the contract and the consignment note, performance of carriage (packaging, delivery, payment), the carrier's liability, grounds for exemption and compensation limits, and time limits for legal action. It contains specific rules for successive and combined transport. It concerns shippers and hauliers moving goods within Gabon or to neighbouring countries.
