Decree establishing the Gabonese standards agency (AGANOR)

This decree creates the Gabonese standards agency (AGANOR, Agence gabonaise de normalisation), a public administrative body, and organises its operation. It was supplemented by a decree in July 2015. AGANOR is the national body for standardisation and conformity assessment. It runs the Gabonese conformity assessment programme (PROGEC), under which many imported goods need a certificate of conformity issued before shipment by appointed inspection bodies. According to the World Trade Organization, AGANOR is also Gabon's national enquiry point for technical barriers to trade. For an importer, this text explains why a certificate of conformity may be requested at customs clearance.
