Electricity and drinking water law
Summary
This law guarantees everyone a right of access to electricity and drinking water, on an equal and fair basis. The generation, transmission, sale, import and export of electricity and drinking water are a State monopoly. The State may however entrust their delivery or management to one or more legal entities incorporated in Gabon, through any form of contract: concession, lease (affermage), managed operation, management contract or public-private partnership. This is the legal basis for private operators, such as independent power producers, entering the sector. A decree of 27 April 2022 designates the concession holder for the public generation, transmission and distribution service.
