Personal data protection law

Summary

This law rewrites Law No. 001/2011 of 25 September 2011 on personal data protection. It sets the rules for collecting, processing, transmitting, storing and using data to prevent invasions of privacy, and recognises everyone's right to decide on and control the use of their data. It applies to automated or manual processing by individuals and by public or private legal entities, where the controller is established in Gabon or uses processing means located in the country, other than for transit only. The Authority for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy (APDPVP) oversees compliance, in particular processing declarations and transfers of data abroad.
