Land ownership ordinance
Summary
This ordinance, which replaces Law No. 15/63, organises the land ownership regime in Gabon. Its 122 articles, in six titles, cover general provisions, the land and mortgage registry, land registration, publicity, transfers and preservation of real property rights, and miscellaneous, transitional and final provisions. It underpins the procedure for obtaining a land title, which is essential to secure land for an industrial, agricultural or real estate project and to use it as collateral. A decree of 19 June 2012 sets the organisation of the land and mortgage registries.
