According to Gabonreview, at the Council of Ministers of 30 May 2025, the Gabonese government announced that broiler chicken imports will be banned from 1 January 2027. The measure was adopted at the same session as the decision on raw manganese exports.
The outlet says the aim is to boost local production and move towards food sovereignty. Poultry producers are called on to modernise their production facilities so that they can meet domestic demand by the time the ban takes effect.
