According to EcoFinances, a delegation led by Thierry Minko, Minister of the Economy, Finance, Debt and Holdings, and Louise Pierrette Mvono, Minister of Planning, attended the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington from 13 to 17 April 2026, together with the directorates general of the Budget, Debt and Treasury and the financial advisers Algest and Rothschild & Co. The official communiqué cited by the outlet reports a convergence of views with the IMF on economic and financial priorities.

On 16 April 2026, Gabon signed with the World Bank an additional 150 million dollar programme (nearly 90 billion CFA francs) for water, sanitation and electricity, which forms part of a set of support operations already approved by the institution's board. The World Bank's total commitment to Gabon thus reaches 600 million dollars, according to the outlet.

The authorities also decided to set up a commission to carry out a full audit of public debt, led by the General Inspectorate and the Budget Control Directorate with IMF support. Planned over two to three months, the audit is to separate compliant commitments from those requiring special treatment, in order to rebuild a reliable debt stock, notably in light of practices observed between 2016 and 2023.
