According to Gabonreview, the State concluded five investment agreements with foreign operators on Monday 4 May 2026 in Libreville, led jointly by the Ministries of Agriculture and the Economy, to strengthen domestic production and reduce dependence on food imports.
The main agreement, with the Turkish group Hakan Kiran, provides for an investment of 120 million dollars, or about 92 billion CFA francs, in an integrated poultry farm. Structured as a public-private partnership, the project targets annual output of 85,000 to 90,000 tonnes of broiler chicken within two years. It follows up on a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2025. A second agreement was concluded with the Cameroonian AVI Group, through its subsidiary AVI Gabon, for about 10 billion CFA francs, with operations in Libreville and Woleu-Ntem province and a training component on poultry farming and input production. Three agreements were also signed with Chinese agricultural investors, including a framework agreement for five strategic infrastructure facilities.
Agriculture Minister Pacome Kossy presented the agreements as a way to make the agricultural sector more viable while tackling the high cost of living, according to Gabonreview.
