According to Gabonreview, this run-of-river facility, with a planned capacity of 400 megawatts, is intended to feed the national interconnected grid and support mining operations in Moanda, Baniaka and Belinga. GPC's director general, Philippe Ossoucah, described it as one of Gabon's most structuring energy projects for the next decade.
The construction site is expected to mobilise around 4,000 workers during the building phase, with expected economic spillovers in direct and indirect employment. The minister said the facility's inauguration could be celebrated in three or four years, though no precise project cost has been disclosed at this stage.
