According to a CIMAF Gabon statement published by Gabonreview, the company is launching two investments totalling 125 billion CFA francs. The CIMAF group signed on 28 July 2026 an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with the CBMI group for a 100 billion CFA franc clinker production plant. This step follows the investment agreement concluded on 20 May 2026 between the State and the CIMAF group, after the head of state received a delegation led by the group's chairman, Anas Sefrioui.
Located in Ntoum and using the Meba limestone deposit, the integrated cement plant is to raise the local processing rate of the cement industry from about 25% to nearly 95%, reduce annual foreign currency outflows estimated at nearly 40 million euros and create about 500 permanent direct and indirect jobs once in operation. Commissioning is planned for end-2028.
In parallel, CIMAF Gabon is building a third 25 billion CFA franc cement production line at its Owendo site, provided for in an investment agreement signed on 21 March 2025. It will add 1 million tonnes of annual capacity and raise the company's capacity to 1.85 million tonnes. According to the statement, the Minister of Industry and Local Processing, Lubin Ntoutoume, confirmed commissioning in September 2026 during a site visit.
