According to Gabonmediatime, crude oil production stood at 2.6 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2026, down 4% quarter on quarter and 8.7% year on year, hit by technical shutdowns, equipment failures and a pipeline explosion. Marketed natural gas output fell 44.9%, due to surface breakdowns and a shortage of specialised equipment to carry out repairs.
Manganese was the exception, with production up 8.4%, driven by the Moanda and Franceville sites, despite the closure of the Okondja site since November 2025.
Gabonmediatime notes that this 2.9% decline nonetheless marks a clear improvement compared with the same quarter of 2025, when the drop had reached 7.9%.
