The Ministry of Economy, Finance, Debt and Holdings announced on 30 July 2026 Gabon's return to international financial markets with a 920 million dollar Eurobond, according to the government's official portal. The amount initially sought was 750 million dollars.

The bond has a seven-year maturity with a three-year grace period on repayment and a coupon of 9.375%, compared with 9.5% for the November 2024 issue. Unlike that earlier operation, which was mainly used for debt buybacks, the new issue is aimed at financing projects, notably in energy, water and infrastructure.

The government links the operation to the amending finance law, which authorises up to 1.5 billion dollars of issuance on international markets and cuts public spending by about 900 billion CFA francs. It also cites the repatriation of funds estimated at 200 billion CFA francs to strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and a growth target of 4% for the year.
