Gabonese Standards Agency
Overview
The Gabonese Standards Agency (AGANOR) was created by decree No. 0227/PR/MIMT of 23 June 2014. It is a public body presented as the national standards, conformity assessment and metrology organisation, built on four pillars: standardisation, metrology, conformity assessment and quality promotion. For importers, its central role is the Gabonese conformity assessment programme (PROGEC): many goods must travel with a certificate of conformity issued before shipment by a mandated inspection body, which customs requires at clearance. The agency also publishes the list of standards made mandatory and carries out statutory metrology checks. According to the WTO, it serves as the national enquiry point for technical barriers to trade.
