Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority
Overview
The Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) is an independent administrative authority. It was created by ordinance No. 000008/PR/2012 of 13 February 2012, ratified by law No. 006/2012 of 13 August 2012, which gave it the status of an authority in place of the former agency, with adapted missions and organisation. Its work covers general, legal, technical, economic and investigative functions. For a digital operator or investor, it is the sector's regulatory counterpart, since the 2001 telecommunications law separated regulation from network operation. It publishes market observatories, including on mobile telephony, and the applicable regulations. It is a member of the French-speaking telecom regulators' network (FRATEL).
