Licensed intermediary banks (domiciliation banks)
Overview
This entry refers to the category of commercial banks licensed as intermediaries for foreign exchange operations, not to a specific bank. CEMAC exchange regulations, set by regulation No. 02/18/CEMAC/UMAC/CM of 21 December 2018, require foreign trade operations to go through these banks. For exports, the operator signs a foreign exchange undertaking endorsed by its domiciliation bank, which is used to track the repatriation of sale proceeds. For imports, the bank checks that payments abroad are regular. The Bank of Central African States (BEAC) oversees enforcement of these rules. The choice of bank belongs to the company; no bank is recommended here and the map position, in central Libreville, is indicative.
