Port-Gentil regional customs directorate
Overview
The Port-Gentil regional customs directorate is one of the four field services of the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Duties (DGDDI). According to the customs map published by the DGDDI, it was created by decree No. 340/PR/MINECOFIN/PART of 22 April 1977 and covers the Ogooué-Maritime, Ngounié and Nyanga provinces. It supervises the customs offices and posts in its area, where declarations are filed, goods are inspected and duties and taxes are assessed, with collection handled by the Treasury. The DGDDI places this directorate at the Carrefour des Douanes in Port-Gentil, which Wikipedia describes as the country's economic capital. The 1977 decree called it the Ogooué-Maritime regional directorate. Its area reaches the Mayumba office on the southern coast and the Doussala and Moulengui-Binza offices near the border with Congo. Port-Gentil is one of the computerised zones on the customs map.
