Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Duties
Overview
The Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Duties (DGDDI) is the administration responsible for goods, people and means of transport entering and leaving the country. Created in 1959, it is now organised by decree No. 0422/PR/MDDEPIP of 9 August 2016, amended in 2020, and reports to the ministry in charge of the economy. It assesses import duties and taxes and some export duties, with collection handled by the Treasury, and checks that clearance operations are regular. It administers special regimes, produces foreign trade statistics through ASYCUDA World and assists other administrations with sanitary, plant health and security controls. Because Gabon shares the customs territory of CEMAC (Central African Economic and Monetary Community), it applies the community customs code. Its field services are grouped in four regional directorates: Libreville, Port-Gentil, Oyem and Franceville.
