Plant protection products law

This law regulates the production, import, distribution, sale and use of plant protection products. These activities must protect the health of people, farmers and consumers, the safety of plants and the environment, market regulation and Gabon's international commitments. The law is based on the principles of precaution, responsibility, subsidiarity and respect for the environment. It creates an authority for protection against plant protection risks, responsible in particular for the national list of approved products, an operational support brigade in charge of inspections and a certification laboratory. It provides for possible support to producers engaged in organic farming, along with prohibitions and penalties. Importers of agricultural inputs are directly concerned.
