According to Gabonmediatime, citing the sectoral economic briefing published by the Directorate General of Economy and Fiscal Policy, part of the Ministry of Economy and Shareholdings, the composite index of the wood industries rose 7% in the third quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter.
According to the article, sawing recorded a 6.3% quarter-on-quarter rise in its production index, bringing its cumulative nine-month growth to 8.7%, while veneer grew 3.8%. Plywood stood out with a 28.6% surge in quarterly production. Gabonmediatime attributes this momentum to strong demand for flagship wood species such as okoume, azobe, okan and sequoias, as well as improved logistics after the end of the rainy season.
According to the article, plywood in particular benefited from dynamic demand in the European Union, Asia and the local market, confirming wood's central role in Gabon's economic diversification.
